Rwanda Land Dashboard has been launched
On Monday, March 11, Minister Dr. Valentine Uwamariya, from the Ministry of Environment launched the Rwanda Land Dashboard (https://rwandalanddashboard.lands.rw), built in partnership with Ganzafrica. The dashboard is a fully automated platform that analyses & visualizes land data including land uses, lands transactions, land ownership and land values in real time.
This dashboard does not only play as a key role in strengthening our internal capacity to leverage real time data insights to ensure service delivery, and make informed land governance and management decisions but also empowers citizens & stakeholders that need related information to make investment decisions.
This is a result of the Rwandan government’s significant efforts over the past two decades to enhance land governance efficiency, through a comprehensive institutional framework that includes, among other initiatives, land tenure regularization programme, the National Land Use and Development Master plan, development of the Land Administration Information System, etc.
In her remarks, Minster of Environment, Dr. Valentine Uwamariya said that, “This dashboard will assist us in tracking information about the master plans established across the country, in various cities, and particularly in different regions, ensuring they are being properly implemented, as there are instances where master plans are not effectively executed.”
The Director General of National Land Authority Mrs. Grace Nishimwe, emphasized that the dashboard will offer a complete overview of land services, making it easier to make informed decisions by providing clear access to relevant information.
She stated, "This dashboard gives a full picture, as having a reliable source of information allows you to make more informed decisions."
This dashboard will be an essential tool for policymakers, researchers, development partners, and the public, helping them make informed decisions.
